Contextual advertising is a form of targeted advertising for advertisements appearing on websites or other media, such as content displayed in mobile browsers. The advertisements themselves are selected and served by automated systems based on the content displayed to the user. How contextual advertising worksA contextual advertising system scans the text of a website for keywords and returns advertisements to the webpage based on what the user is viewing. The advertisements may be displayed on the webpage or as pop-up ads. For example, if the user is viewing a website pertaining to sports and that website uses contextual advertising, the user may see advertisements for sports-related companies, such as memorabilia dealers or ticket sellers. Contextual advertising is also used by search engines to display advertisements on their search results pages based on the keywords in the user's query. From Wikipedia under the

Q. what is the average response or conversion rate for contextual advertising campaigns? Asked by williamhernandez48 - Fri Jul 25 00:06:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. at average 1 in 100 impressions results in one click (1%) for google ads and almost the same but a bit higher for yahoo advertising 1 in 4000 for the ads on facebook 1 in 5000 for the ads on myspace this is just 'average' stats for click through rates for all types of ads. however, it all depends on how well targeted is the campaign - if well and precisely and narrow targeted and meaningful call to action text and well designed landing page and savvy audience, one can achieve, i believe, CTRs as much as 5% and conversion near 100% (my highest ever was 2% click through rate out of which 60% became subscribers for my dance network) Have a good one. I think it's a great idea to demand it, but I doubt Yahoo will do anything. Even President Obama has said that the off-shore jobs are not coming back, and he won't do anything about it. You make a good point about the privacy issue, because here we have had a problem with that, especially people overseas having access to your medical records.
